Expanding The Mind Into Levels of Consciousness

Thesis: Expanding the mind has positive and practical applications. For example, a
theory of health as expanding consciousness into present moment awareness of what’s going
on in the body. How is the heart rate? Any sweating? Breathing shallow or deep and at
what rate of breathing? Is there any muscle tension? Any anxiety, pain, discomfort or
swelling? Is the general feeling pleasure, positive, neutral or negative?

Expanding the mind is useful, naturally, for wellbeing.

It is a question of your level of consciousness.

So, this begs the question, what is consciousness?

Consciousness is ‘being conscious’ or ‘being aware..’

So it’s a process of attention and of consciously focusing your attention on exactly what
you want to see, to know and become AWARE of….

Consciousness is also ‘being awake.’ Rather than being asleep in unconsciousness.

What is expansion of consciousness?

It involves ‘mind mapping’ with concepts so that you know where you’re going!
Or else, you wouldn’t remember! You’d have a hazy memory of spacy experiments..
And experiences ..

States of consciousness need mapping, recording, describing and documenting!

Now that’s not an easy task.

Think of The Tibetan Book Of The Dead, or The Bhagavad Gita or The Tao Te Ching…

Or think of Baha’u'llah’s The Seven Valleys and The Four Valleys
or The Upanishads or The New Testament, for that matter!

It is difficult work mapping states of consciousness.

Consciousness study has typically focused itself around the practice of meditation.
When Transcendental Meditation (R) came to the west, brought by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,
there were several scientific studies carried out, proving the benefits of meditation
to both mind and body. In this writer’s opinion, these results are irrefutable. Personal
experience has supported these findings. (1971 to 2012).

Expanding the mind to include biofeedback loops is another, related area. This simply
means that a person can learn to habitually focus on and respond to a specific area of
bodily function, such as the heart rate, facial temperature, palm sweating, etc.

Expanding the mind into states of consciousness which include apparent god consciousness
is the most rewarding activity that any individual or mystic can ever undertake.

Yoga means ‘connection’ and in advanced Raja Yoga, a connection is made with pure soul
levels that do amount to a form of god consciousness. This has been reported by members
of the international spiritual university known as Brahma Kumaris. This university is
truly universal because it draws upon all known sources of spiritual teachings.
